My view at breakfast. Hard to be cranky looking at this.

I am making good choices. Everyone at these things drinks like crazy, and no one can really believe I quit drinking. I think it says more about them than me that they find not drinking unbelievable.

My cardiologist would approve of this breakfast. On the road and by yourself is the hardest time to eat healthy.

I saw a graphic on the news that 3 or 4 of the top 10 most expensive areas to live are in California. (New York, surprisingly, did not make the list). One of the areas listed was Santa Cruz. As I sit here eating beautiful berries, I wonder how long those berry fields in Santa Cruz county can hold off urban demand. California's housing problems and regulatory environment may change the way we eat.

Kudos to you for following the Cardiologist’s orders. What is that exactly? Berries and yogurt?

I’m funny when it comes to berries. I don’t care for them in their whole form. While I love blueberries/strawberries/raspberries in foods, I don’t like them by themselves. I’m sure it also doesn’t help that I really shouldn’t eat anything with seeds in them, and most berries have tiny seeds. But even when I could eat seeds, I just never acquired a taste for berries by themselves.

As for the drinking thing, I probably have about 3 beers a year.  And maybe two shots. I just don’t see the allure of drinking.  That’s why if I go to a bar to watch a sporting event I always be sure to order a good amount of food since they’re not making any money off of me on booze.
